Yielding

I've been thinking a lot about "yielding" this week, because I flipped open to a scripture that talked about the joy that comes with yielding our hearts to God.
In driving, we yield in certain situations to allow another vehicle the right of way. We slow down or even stop while they have their turn.
In life, we get to choose what we yield to.
We can yield to fear, doubt, comparison, shame, anger, discouragement, disappointment, insecurity, perfectionism, guilt, resentment, procrastination, overwhelm, envy, imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, bitterness, regret, control, hopelessness, jealousy, self-doubt, cynicism, defeat, judgment, numbness, self-sabotage, etc. etc. etc... but that leaves us stuck and small.
Or we can yield to God, whose message is of growth, possibility, and love. These thoughts slow us down as well, but for the purpose of pausing and reflecting and fueling up before we enjoy the open road.
I'm thinking one of these options sounds like a far more enjoyable way to travel. What do you think? Where have you seen yielding in your own life?
