Add two dots...

Sometimes when things feel final it's because they actually are. But more often than not, life continues. Not as we pictured or hoped, but it does continue. And we get to choose what we do from that point forward.

When we're inclined to see a situation as ending with a period, what if we try adding two dots?

. . .

Adding two dots means the sentence continues, usually with an "and" or a "but" or an "although". It opens us up to what's next and engages our power to choose, even if the world as we knew it came to an end.

"I'm not ready.
can become,
"I'm not ready...but I'm going to try my best with what I have.

"We failed."
can turn into,
"We failed...and now we'll try a different way."
or
"We failed...so now we'll pick up and start a new chapter."

"I don't like this."
can become,
"I don't like this...so I'm going to do what I can to improve it."

Adding two dots often takes more work than keeping the one, but using our power to choose is one of our greatest gifts.

With Christ, there is always the option to add two dots.
