Paint the cabinets.

There's a lot you can do if you don't like something in your life.
My kitchen felt super dark for the first 3 + 3/4 years we've lived here, with oak cabinets, oak floors, and dark countertops (probably very chic when the house was built, but gooodness not anymore). This last December, I decided to do something about it.
We didn't have the budget to do a full remodel or even just redo the countertops. So I decided to paint the cabinets.
I told my husband, and he said, "Sure, go for it." (I later found out that he really wasn't confident that I'd do a great job...LOL...but figured the worst case scenario was he'd redo them). So I took on the project.
It was a lot bigger of a project than I expected, but I did the research, bought the materials, and put in the time and elbow grease to get it done, one coat at a time.
And I did it! They turned out great. Not perfect, but great. My kitchen is brighter and more appealing to be in now, and I don't even hate our darker countertops anymore.
This was a great lesson for life. I could have just stuck with the darkness and complained about it until we had the budget to renovate the entire kitchen (probably 5 years down the road), but I picked one thing that could make a big difference with some commitment and work, and it changed the entire feeling of the kitchen.
What's an area of your life that you're not happy with? You don't have to scrap or reinvent the entire thing...but what is one thing you can put research, commitment, and work into that will make a big difference?
Go for it. Paint the cabinets.
