Education

courage freedom personal growth relationships

There's the type of education with books, pencils, notebooks, desks, and assignments/tests from an authority figure.

But that's not the only kind. (I would argue that, in many cases, it's not even the best kind.)

Does the fact that a person hasn't sat in the same classroom as another person make them less educated? No; just differently educated.

Limiting ourselves to such a small idea of education does us all a disservice.

Education comes in so many more forms:

  • Experiments
  • Creative endeavors
  • Life lessons (positive and negative)
  • Real-life conversations
  • Curiosity and discovery
  • Mistakes
  • Exposure
  • Intuition
  • Travel
  • Hobbies
  • Service

If we hear ourselves calling another human uneducated, maybe it's time to broaden our definition, and then get close enough to review their life-transcript. We might still not see eye to eye, but at least we'll better understand their lens.
