Everyone is craving something.

I asked a question on Facebook the other day, which has been opening some really interesting thoughts and conversations for me.

The question was simply: What are you craving right now?

I expected to receive a wide range of responses, but I frankly didn't expect people to be so open and honest. I'm so glad they were. Here are a few snippets (keeping the respondents anonymous):

  • Stability
  • Community
  • In-N-Out
  • Peace and certainty
  • Time away with spouse
  • A break from mom guilt
  • Feeling like me again
  • Time to myself to create
  • A break

Many of these came with stories, which helped me really understand the context. I wish I could include them all here, but that would be quite the mega-post. The main thing I took away was the simple reminder:

Everyone is craving something.

It's easy to forget that, especially when from the outside looking in it seems like we're the only ones who feel like we're falling short, or are going through a challenging time, ... or just want some calm and a chocolate croissant.

The good news about that is that there's always something we can do to help someone. Even if we can't help them totally satisfy their cravings, even just a bit of brightness or relief goes a long way.
