Care isn't scary

courage freedom

There's a nasty bug going around, and 3 of our crew of 6 were down today. I would never want this for anyone (especially my own people here), but there was something I loved watching today.

My 2 girls who weren't feeling sick (14 and 6 years old) went out of their way to care for my husband, son, and daughter. From positive words to putting their dinner on a special tray and making a smiley face out of raspberries, they truly enjoyed helping.

They weren't doing this for any kind of reward. They also didn't hold back out of fear of what their "patients" would think. They just stepped in to help, and they used their unique gifts freely.

It got me thinking, they had so much confidence in their abilities to brighten their siblings' and dad's day that they didn't even question what they were doing. They served out of compassion and care, knowing their actions could help at least just a little bit. They didn't hold back out of fear or self-doubt.

Care isn't scary. Caring what people might think is what stops us.

If you're feeling called to "something bigger," it's because there's someone out there who needs what you can offer. Approaching your work from a place of compassion and care can silence your self-doubt and move you forward with more freedom.
