Bob's first painting

personal growth

I'm going to reveal just how old and dorky we are, but Chris and I have started watching a lot of Bob Ross's "Joy of Painting" episodes to relax at the end of the day. We're regularly blown away by how quickly he can paint a very realistic-looking boulder or "almighty tree" or reflection in the water.

But Bob wasn't born knowing how to paint like that.

I bet his very first painting looked a lot like most people's very first paintings... either with finger paint or very broad and messy brush strokes.

He practiced his craft and experimented with different materials until he developed his very own method. And only then did it become second-nature to him.

It's easy to look at people doing things masterfully and feel like we'll never get there. But little by little, practice and experiments lead to discovery and mastery. Then "happy clouds" will just pop right onto the canvas.
