Anger is heavy

Anger is heavy and expensive. It costs us energy, joy, and connection. In other words, it costs us freedom.

When someone offends or hurts us, it's normal to feel it, as a core human emotion. Ignoring or burying it is unnecessary, and can turn toxic later on, so it's important to process it in a healthy way.

But carrying it longer than you need to actually hurts you more than the person you're upset with. It leaves you feeling stuck, disconnected, and in the dark.

You deserve more.

Letting go of the anger is an act of claiming your personal sovereignty from that person's actions. You're refusing to let them have power over you. You are choosing to walk free.

Doing so doesn't let the person who hurt you off the hook. We'll all have our own answering to do, before God -- who is keenly aware of the pain and suffering they've caused you. As much as we think we can make them suffer by our behavior, it's not our job. That role belongs to Jesus. We get to accept the freedom He has already paid for, through His atoning sacrifice.

Let the anger go. You deserve it.
