30 minutes from now

When you're attempting something new or stretching outside of your comfort zone, it's really easy to put off doing it... because you just don't feel like it. Your brain is trying to keep you safe and comfy, and it has a lifetime of practice doing it.

I've learned a good response for those thoughts telling you, "Ehh, it's not that important" or, "I'll just wait until tomorrow." I simply tell my brain, "30 minutes from now, I'll be glad I did."

This works for the challenging morning workout that I told myself I'd do the night before and try to talk myself out of (every. time); it works for the uncomfortable follow-up email I need to send to a prospective client; it works for writing these blog posts... etc. etc.

Why does it work? Because it's true! As soon as I'm finished (and usually even while I'm doing it), I'm genuinely really glad I did. So answering my hesitant thoughts with a reminder of the truth is very effective.

Getting to the first step is the hardest part. This one-liner is a great one to keep for when you need that extra boost.
